Deanta Door Treatment, Care & Warranty Guidelines
🛡️ Caring for Your Deanta Door
Deanta doors are supplied with a ten-year warranty, provided all installation, treatment and care guidelines are followed in full. If a Deanta door warps or splits, it will be covered under warranty where correct installation and finishing procedures have been observed.
Please note that natural colour variation and grain pattern differences are a characteristic of timber and are not considered manufacturing defects.
📦 Inspection, Storage & Acclimatisation
- All doors must be examined immediately upon receipt and before installation.
- Claims for damage or defects will not be accepted once a door has been installed or altered, except where a manufacturing fault develops after hanging.
- Any scratches to glass must be reported upon delivery and prior to installation, as these are not considered manufacturing faults.
- Doors must be stored horizontally on a clean, dry, flat and level surface.
- Allow doors to acclimatise inside the property for at least seven days before installation, gradually increasing ambient temperature.
- Do not install doors in freshly plastered properties. All wet trades must be completed and sufficiently dried before delivery. A moisture reading should be recorded by an engineer.
✂️ Alterations, Trimming & Planing
- If alteration, cutting or planing is required, the door must be immediately re-varnished to prevent moisture absorption, which may lead to warping or splitting.
- Only remove material within the recommended trimming allowances, taking equal amounts from all edges.
- Trimming allowances vary by door design — refer to Deanta’s product guidance for specific limits.
Failure to follow trimming guidelines or seal exposed timber will invalidate the warranty.
🎨 Finishing & Sealing (Warranty Critical)
- Apply three coats of a suitable internal wood finish to all unfinished doors.
- Any modifications to prefinished doors must also be sealed, including:
- Planed or trimmed edges
- Hinge recesses
- Handle, lock and latch cut-outs
- White Primed doors should be lightly sanded with fine sandpaper to remove excess primer or rough areas.
- Apply one to two coats of your chosen finish to White Primed doors, including all altered areas, to protect against moisture ingress.
Only use varnishes or lacquers suitable for internal joinery. If you intend to use oils, please contact Deanta directly for approved product recommendations.
🔩 Hardware & Installation Requirements
- All doors must be installed using three hinges per door.
- Deanta’s ten-year warranty on hardware (handles and locks) applies to mechanical faults only. General wear and tear is not covered.
🔥 Fire Rated Doors
All Deanta fire rated doors must be installed strictly in accordance with the relevant fire certification.
Any deviation outside the scope of the certification will invalidate both the warranty and the stated fire performance.
⚠️ Warranty Limitations & Liability
- Warp, bow, cup or twist is not considered a defect unless it exceeds 6.35mm (¼ inch) in the plane of the door, as defined by the relevant British Standard.
- Alteration of a Deanta door will void the warranty.
- Under the warranty, Deanta’s liability is limited to replacement of the door only. No liability is accepted for consequential costs.
Deanta veneers are manufactured from North American timber and will display natural grain variation, colour differences and occasional small knots.
