Happy installing!
Failure to follow the provided fitting and treatment guidelines voids any warranty. Ensure that ALL timber products are treated prior to installation and fitted by experts. Items must remain dry and level in appropriate storage before use. Plaster, cement, or other moisture must be dry before products are delivered to avoid damage. Â
All timber products, be it internal or external, must be fully sealed on all six surfaces, including cut-outs, top, and bottom, using a water-repellent high quality wood treatment before installation. Â
Do not use water-based treatments, oils, wax, or varnish. Â
External products and frames require UV-protective sealants to be applied in dry weather with exterior-grade materials prior to installation. All our internal and external timber products must be correctly treated without delay and prior fitting. It is most important that all timber products are completely and fully treated before fitting, including all faces, edges and any ‘cut outs’ such as letter boxes, locks etc. It is vital that the ‘end’ grain is completely protected as this is where moisture can most easily penetrate causing swelling, splitting and warping.Â
For fire-rated products, refer to individual trimming labels or consult our office for advice. It is important to check with building regs that the products you are purchasing are suitable for your individual project/s.Â
When it comes to treating and fitting timber products, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. Firstly, always check the treatment and fitting guidelines provided with each individual product before starting any work. It’s also important that you use a full coverage, micro-porous topcoat when working on engineered timber – this helps to protect against moisture building up inside the timber, as well as changes in temperature between rooms which can cause expansion and contraction of the material. Make sure you’re using a finishing coat that is fit for purpose too – if not, your guarantee will be invalidated. Finally, make sure you’re not carrying out application of your topcoat in extremes of temperature or humidity. That way you can ensure your door stays looking great for years to come. ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
When treating your external doors, it’s important to take into consideration the environment you’ll be working in. Make sure that the temperature and humidity aren’t too extreme when you’re applying your topcoat, as this can affect the quality of the finish. Always read through instructions for specific guidelines on prepping your door for treatment.
Also, don’t forget about ventilation! Even if you’re in a well-ventilated space, any waste packaging and materials have to be disposed of responsibly – so make sure to double check what materials should go where after use.
Finally, bear in mind that using Danish Oil on unfinished internal and external doors isn’t encouraged – any guarantee provided alongside the product will become void if this type of oil is applied.

Engineered doors are crafted from engineered timber instead of solid wood. Despite having the same visual appeal as solid wood doors and lacking a hollow core, engineered timber doors offer numerous additional benefits.
Engineered timber consists of high-grade timber pieces that have been cut and bonded together in a specific manner. To appreciate its advantages, it’s essential to understand how solid wood reacts to environmental factors.
Solid wood expands and contracts when exposed to heat or humidity, following the grain’s direction. This continuous process eventually leads to permanent changes in the wood’s shape and size, known as warping. This issue is particularly relevant for external doors, which are exposed to different conditions and temperatures on either side. When a door scrapes the floor or doesn’t open as smoothly as it once did, it’s typically due to this inherent drawback of solid wood.
A solid engineered core door is made by cutting high-grade timber into strips and bonding them with alternating grain directions. This method counteracts the effects of heat and humidity, preventing the door from warping over time.
If part of your order is available for preorder and states ‘backorder’, where possible we will aim to split the delivery with the backorder items to follow as soon as they are in stock.
Our doors are designed to offer maximum flexibility for your project. They do not come with pre-cut latch, hinge, or handle cutouts. This allows joiners to customise the door on site precisely to meet your specific requirements.

Door ironmongery can come in a variety of forms, such as door handles, latches, and knobs. Door handles are the most common type of ironmongery used on doors today and come in an array of styles, including traditional lever designs to contemporary minimalistic shapes. Latches serve as an additional security measure for doors by preventing them from being opened without permission. Knobs are a decorative feature often found on internal doors and offer another option for opening or closing the door from either side. No matter what type of door hardware you’re looking for, there’s sure to be something that suits the style of your home!
Additionally, modern door hardware is designed with convenience in mind. Easy-to-install door handles make it a breeze to replace existing ones or add new pieces of hardware. Some even come with built-in locks, allowing you to secure the door quickly and easily. Door hooks are another great addition for those who don’t want to go through the hassle of fitting a latch. Door letter plates also provide an attractive way to receive mail without having to open the door every time.
From elegant door handles to practical door latches, there is something available for all types of doors that will suit both your style and security needs. Ironmongery can be a great investment in both looks and longevity!
No matter what look you’re going for, there is sure.
At Doorphoria, we understand that the doors you buy are an investment. That’s why all our products come with at least a 12-month guarantee, with the majority 10 -25 years.
Most joiners will be more than happy to do this for you.
To get the right size for your new door, you should measure from the left corner to the right corner of your current door. Don’t forget to double check that you’re only measuring the door and not including any extra bits like weather-stripping – this could lead to an incorrect measurement! Once you have the number, make sure it is compatible with your desired product’s trimming guidelines. In some cases, if your measurements are slightly bigger than standard sizes, then you may be able to trim down the door and make it fit perfectly!
When measuring for height, take the measurements from the top of the door to the bottom. The last thing you want is your new door to be too high or low! Especially with older doors, it is important to measure it from more than one location, just in case the door is not perfectly rectangular. If the sizes vary, use the largest number.
Same with the height, from top to bottom in several places, using the largest number.
Finally, measure the thickness of your door both on the edge of the door itself and then again on its frame. This will help ensure you get a product with a size perfect for what you need. Be aware that external doors may be thicker than internal ones so make sure to account for this when ordering. With these numbers in hand, you can now confidently order a replacement door that fits perfectly!
Most of our doors have considerable trimming allowance and this is stated within the product description. If you are unsure, or cannot quite see the trimming allowance within the description, give us a ring and we will happily check this for you against your opening sizes.
We strongly recommend letting your fitter/joiner know this information upfront so there’s no guesswork involved. That way, everyone will be on the same page and you can rest assured that your product is still protected by its warranty. Happy customising!
